FlipGive launches the only end-to-end fundraising and financial management platform, specifically designed for youth sports teams

TORONTO, April 11, 2022 /CNW/ – FlipGive today announces the launch of the leading, all-in-one platform for team fundraising, budgeting and finances. This continues the company’s mission to make sports more affordable and accessible for youth across North America. Having identified an equality gap in youth sports, FlipGive has tipped the financial scale for more than 50,000 teams, allowing more kids to access the physical and mental health benefits of sports.

FlipGive began with the goal of reducing the cost to play for families. By shopping for everyday items with more than 700 popular brands and retailers, teams and their supporters earn cashback rewards that are used to cover expenses including tournaments, player fees, and equipment. The platform now also includes easy-to-use financial tools that help busy team managers, parents and volunteers with budget planning, fee collection, tracking and transparency.

“We are thrilled to now offer an end-to-end solution for teams, alleviating the massive burden on volunteers who, in addition to being busy parents, have to manage team nances,” said Mark Bachman, CEO. “You can’t put a price tag on the benet of sports and recreational activities in a kid’s life. We have always aimed to remove barriers to accessing sports by lowering the cost associated with playing and by helping team managers save time, that should include managing team nances.”

The FlipGive platform has already had a significant impact on hundreds of thousands of families across North America having raised over US$25 million for youth sports teams. Momentum continues to build as FlipGive achieves record quarterly growth, member engagement, and team fundraising milestones.

“Thousands of children every day are denied the ability to participate in competitive sports and activities,” said Peter Misek, Founding Partner at Framework Venture Partners. “FlipGive began by solving the fundraising gap but realized the friction for access doesn’t end there. Parent volunteers are forced to use personal bank accounts, funds and spreadsheets to organize and manage team activities. These burdens have become overwhelming. FlipGive now also removes this burden and friction, and brings much-needed simplicity to the lives of managers and treasurers, while lessening the risk of mistakes, mismanagement and fraud.”

“FlipGive has transformed how our teams fundraise, plan and track our team budgets,” said Stacy Carli, a multi-year FlipGive user and treasurer at Durham Attack Volleyball Club. “FlipGive lets us use our regular spending to lower player costs and the team money tools help standardize the financial processes for our teams, making it easier for me to support our parent representatives.”

“Since the beginning,  our foundation has been innovation in apparel and bio-physical technology in our fabrics and products ,” says Russell Lin, CEO of VIRUS International. “We have always believed that the most high performance gear should not only be for a select few, but that everyone should have access to equipment that helps them achieve their goals and elevates their performance. This is the next step of that same fabric-technology innovation that we have been exploring.”

Personalized coaching is now a must-have capability for apps and fitness products as companies like Tempo and Tonal add real-time form coaching, and leaders like Peloton and Nautilus acquire form-tracking technologies for forthcoming products. It’s no surprise that leading fitness companies are adding this capability: Some 55% of customers buying fitness products have said they want coaching to help them improve.

Washington, D.C. – Just before Congress turned out the lights on 2021 legislative action, it passed the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act and President Biden signed the bill into law (PL 117-78) on December 23, 2021. The new law bans imports of products manufactured in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) beginning June 21, 2022 and imposes sanctions on those responsible for human rights violations in the region.

Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Jeff Merkley (D-OR) led the Congressional effort and the Senate passed the legislation in July, the House followed suit on Dec 8th. The Senators goal is to ensure goods made with slave labor of Uyghurs and other oppressed Muslim minority groups in XUAR and elsewhere in China do not enter the United States.

Goods manufactured in the XUAR will be assumed to be products of forced labor and banned unless U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) determines the product was not made using forced labor, convict labor or indentured labor under penal sanctions. Products not made in the region which contain materials or components made in XUAR are also subject to the ban. CBP will report determinations of forced labor to Congress and the public.

To avoid the Forced Labor ban, importers must prove products made in the region, or including components from the region had no forced labor in the production of the materials used. The importer must be compliant with relevant CBP guidance and completely and substantively responded to all CBP inquiries on manufacture of product. If CBP finds overwhelming evidence the goods were not made with forced labor, they will be allowed to enter U.S. stream of commerce.

The newly created Forced Labor Enforcement Task Force will create lists of entities in XUAR producing goods with forced labor, any entities involved in providing forced laborers to manufacturing facilities, goods produced in forced labor facilities and entities exporting forced labor products to U.S. The Task Force shall also provide guidance to importers on supply chain tracing and management measures to ensure products from China are not made with forced labor.

The President will provide Congress with periodic reports that identify foreign entities and individuals knowingly facilitating forced labor and any efforts to contravene U.S. laws regarding the importation of goods produced with forced labor.  Securities issuers required to file reports with the SEC shall disclose any instances where issuer knowingly engaged in certain activities related to forced labor such as building detention facilities or surveillance systems in them.

SFIA will host a webinar on the new law governing product imports from XUAR on February 3rd at 2 p.m. EST to help the industry understand the new law and compliance by June 21, 2021.

SportsEdTV, and its SportsEdTV STORIES division, has joined forces with the Confederacao Brasileiro De Voleibol (Brazilian Volleyball Federation) to tell the story of Brazilian volleyball dominance on the world stage.  The cooperation includes the production of two video projects: 1) an instruction library featuring the methods and techniques used by the Brazilian coaches to prepare players for world competition; 2) a deep look at the human stories and the people who have made the Brazilian volleyball success miracle happen.

“This project gives SportsEdTV a chance to delve into the human side of exceptional sports performance and excellence,” said Co-Founder & Chairman, Robert Mazzucchelli.  He added, “Brazil has shown a unique ability to dominate volleyball on the world stage.  Their men’s team has been ranked #1 in the world for eighteen straight years.  Their women’s team is a perennial top contender.  And their men’s and women’s beach volleyball players rank among the best.  How do they do it?  Who are the people driving this high level of achievement?  We will tell the story and the stories within the story, which is on par with the stories of USA “Dream Team’s” dominance in basketball, or the old Soviet Union’s dominance in hockey, at a time when a group of skilled Soviet professionals competed against the world’s amateurs.”

“It is a great honor to have SportsEdTV tell our volleyball story,” said Adriana Behar, CEO of CBV and two-time Olympic silver medalist.  “It is easy to overlook our country’s consistent success in volleyball and take for granted our results in global competition.  It has just been part of our national reality for so long.  For a U.S.-based global media company to recognize our achievement, and want to tell the world about it, is great for Brazil and the sport of volleyball worldwide.  We hope the stories and training methods told in these videos will help inspire and teach future generations of athletes how to excel on the court and off.” Behar added.

The two video projects will take approximately twenty-four months to complete.  The first, an instruction library that demonstrates the teaching and training methods used by the Brazilian coaches, will show the world for the first time how Brazil prepares its players for success.  The second, a documentary, will trace the origins of this unique Brazilian sports story, and look into the contribution of people like coaches Bernardinho, Ze Roberto, Jorge Barros and players like Giovanni Gavio, Ana Moser, Gilson Goncalves, Giba, Sheila, Dante Fabi, Shelda and more.  The documentary will explore the lives of these key characters, trace their roots to the game of volleyball and follow their ascension to worldwide dominance of the sport.  SportsEdTV will also explore the connection of the men’s team’s success to current successes among the youth, women’s team, and beach players on the global stage.

SportsEdTV will distribute the instruction library exclusively on SportsEdTV’s web and social channels, and the documentary on global sports and entertainment television, OTT networks, cable, and on-demand platforms.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MEN’S LACROSSE FACEOFF STAR TD IERLAN SIGNS WITH GAIT

Altamont, N.Y. (December 16, 2021) – Gait Lacrosse is excited to announce a multi-year partnership with Premier Lacrosse League and National Lacrosse League’s faceoff star TD Ierlan. Ierlan will represent the brand using the latest Gait Lacrosse equipment.

The agreement will provide Ierlan with Gait Lacrosse hard goods in the current NLL season as well as the opportunity to work with the Gait Product Development team on upcoming men’s product launches. Ierlan holds every NCAA season and career faceoff and ground balls record. He is also a volunteer assistant men’s lacrosse coach at Syracuse University.

“I am so excited to be teaming up with Gait Lacrosse,” said Ierlan. “The impact both Paul and Gary have made from how the game is played to what equipment players are using today is immeasurable. I cannot wait to work with them on a faceoff specific line and get on the field using the latest Gait equipment.”

Gait Lacrosse, a collaboration between lacrosse legends and brothers, Gary and Paul Gait, launched in the fall of 2019 with only women’s lacrosse gear and a small assortment of men’s equipment. The brand is set to release a full men’s line in early 2022.

“We’re thrilled to have TD join the Gait team,” said Gait Lacrosse owner Paul Gait. “His dominance at the faceoff position speaks for itself and we’re excited that he’ll be able to share his expertise with our product development team as well as showing what our equipment can do on the field.”

Ierlan began his college career at Albany, where he was a two-time All-American setting NCAA Division I single-season records in faceoff percentage (.791), faceoff wins (359) and ground balls (254). He then spent two seasons at Yale and finished his college career at Denver with the Ivy League electing to forgo the 2021 season due to COVID-19.

His career concluded with winning .751 percent of faceoffs over five years (1,245-1,657) and winning 867 ground balls. All of those career marks are NCAA records and his career faceoff win percentage is nearly four percent higher than the previous record holder.

Ierlan was selected fourth overall by the Redwoods in the Premier Lacrosse League entry draft and drafted to the Toronto Rock in the National Lacrosse League. He finished his rookie season second in the PLL with a .650 faceoff win percentage. He was a finalist for the league’s Paul Cantabene Faceoff Athlete of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards.

Ierlan joins a list of elite womens and mens lacrosse athletes as well as fifteen college lacrosse programs in the Gait Family.
