Connected Fitness Products Add Personalized Coaching

Virus International launching new line of smart (app)arel™ with asensei motion capture technology to allow any Connected Fitness product to add form-tracking and real-time coaching.

(San Francisco, CA – October 26, 2021) asensei, the company offering the easiest way to add form tracking and real-time coaching to sport and fitness products, has made it even simpler for fitness brands to move beyond canned video workouts, into truly interactive classes personalized to the individual athlete. Any Connected Fitness product or app can offer form-tracking and real-time coaching to customers wearing (app)arel™ designed and manufactured by Virus with “asensei inside”.

“Until today, smart apparel has been developed by technology companies focused on function not fashion,  but now, thanks to our partnership with Virus, we are giving consumers apparel that eliminates the choice between fashion and function–now they can have both,” says asensei CEO Steven Webster. “We have always believed that customers will want to work out in the brands of apparel they already love, wherever they want, with the fitness products and apps they already own.”

“Since the beginning,  our foundation has been innovation in apparel and bio-physical technology in our fabrics and products ,” says Russell Lin, CEO of VIRUS International. “We have always believed that the most high performance gear should not only be for a select few, but that everyone should have access to equipment that helps them achieve their goals and elevates their performance. By partnering with asensei to integrate their (app)arel technology into our gear, we can now elevate every athlete’s performance, at every level, in every sport. This is the next step of that same fabric-technology innovation that we have been exploring.”

Personalized coaching is now a must-have capability for apps and fitness products as companies like Tempo and Tonal add real-time form coaching, and leaders like Peloton and Nautilus acquire form-tracking technologies for forthcoming products. It’s no surprise that leading fitness companies are adding this capability: Some 55% of customers buying fitness products have said they want coaching to help them improve.

With our asensei.ai (“asensei inside”) SDK, adding 3D form-capture and coaching to connected fitness products and apps can be achieved by a brand’s developers in less than an hour.

Some of the most popular use-cases customers are seeking to implement with Connected Coaching™ powered by asensei.ai include:

Onboarding lessons that teach beginner to advanced techniques that will appear in workouts. Movement screens during warmups that allow adjust to programming, and recommendation of supplemental strength and mobility exercises. Accurate rep-counting of both simple and complex movement patterns. Giving real time feedback on form during practice, and observed areas for improvement post-practice.

With the VIRUS x ASENSEI partnership, Connected Fitness partners can now accelerate their time to market by co-branding (app)arel with Virus at www.virusintl.com

Washington, D.C. – Just before Congress turned out the lights on 2021 legislative action, it passed the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act and President Biden signed the bill into law (PL 117-78) on December 23, 2021. The new law bans imports of products manufactured in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) beginning June 21, 2022 and imposes sanctions on those responsible for human rights violations in the region.

Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Jeff Merkley (D-OR) led the Congressional effort and the Senate passed the legislation in July, the House followed suit on Dec 8th. The Senators goal is to ensure goods made with slave labor of Uyghurs and other oppressed Muslim minority groups in XUAR and elsewhere in China do not enter the United States.

Goods manufactured in the XUAR will be assumed to be products of forced labor and banned unless U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) determines the product was not made using forced labor, convict labor or indentured labor under penal sanctions. Products not made in the region which contain materials or components made in XUAR are also subject to the ban. CBP will report determinations of forced labor to Congress and the public.

To avoid the Forced Labor ban, importers must prove products made in the region, or including components from the region had no forced labor in the production of the materials used. The importer must be compliant with relevant CBP guidance and completely and substantively responded to all CBP inquiries on manufacture of product. If CBP finds overwhelming evidence the goods were not made with forced labor, they will be allowed to enter U.S. stream of commerce.

The newly created Forced Labor Enforcement Task Force will create lists of entities in XUAR producing goods with forced labor, any entities involved in providing forced laborers to manufacturing facilities, goods produced in forced labor facilities and entities exporting forced labor products to U.S. The Task Force shall also provide guidance to importers on supply chain tracing and management measures to ensure products from China are not made with forced labor.

The President will provide Congress with periodic reports that identify foreign entities and individuals knowingly facilitating forced labor and any efforts to contravene U.S. laws regarding the importation of goods produced with forced labor.  Securities issuers required to file reports with the SEC shall disclose any instances where issuer knowingly engaged in certain activities related to forced labor such as building detention facilities or surveillance systems in them.

SFIA will host a webinar on the new law governing product imports from XUAR on February 3rd at 2 p.m. EST to help the industry understand the new law and compliance by June 21, 2021.

SportsEdTV, and its SportsEdTV STORIES division, has joined forces with the Confederacao Brasileiro De Voleibol (Brazilian Volleyball Federation) to tell the story of Brazilian volleyball dominance on the world stage.  The cooperation includes the production of two video projects: 1) an instruction library featuring the methods and techniques used by the Brazilian coaches to prepare players for world competition; 2) a deep look at the human stories and the people who have made the Brazilian volleyball success miracle happen.

“This project gives SportsEdTV a chance to delve into the human side of exceptional sports performance and excellence,” said Co-Founder & Chairman, Robert Mazzucchelli.  He added, “Brazil has shown a unique ability to dominate volleyball on the world stage.  Their men’s team has been ranked #1 in the world for eighteen straight years.  Their women’s team is a perennial top contender.  And their men’s and women’s beach volleyball players rank among the best.  How do they do it?  Who are the people driving this high level of achievement?  We will tell the story and the stories within the story, which is on par with the stories of USA “Dream Team’s” dominance in basketball, or the old Soviet Union’s dominance in hockey, at a time when a group of skilled Soviet professionals competed against the world’s amateurs.”

“It is a great honor to have SportsEdTV tell our volleyball story,” said Adriana Behar, CEO of CBV and two-time Olympic silver medalist.  “It is easy to overlook our country’s consistent success in volleyball and take for granted our results in global competition.  It has just been part of our national reality for so long.  For a U.S.-based global media company to recognize our achievement, and want to tell the world about it, is great for Brazil and the sport of volleyball worldwide.  We hope the stories and training methods told in these videos will help inspire and teach future generations of athletes how to excel on the court and off.” Behar added.

The two video projects will take approximately twenty-four months to complete.  The first, an instruction library that demonstrates the teaching and training methods used by the Brazilian coaches, will show the world for the first time how Brazil prepares its players for success.  The second, a documentary, will trace the origins of this unique Brazilian sports story, and look into the contribution of people like coaches Bernardinho, Ze Roberto, Jorge Barros and players like Giovanni Gavio, Ana Moser, Gilson Goncalves, Giba, Sheila, Dante Fabi, Shelda and more.  The documentary will explore the lives of these key characters, trace their roots to the game of volleyball and follow their ascension to worldwide dominance of the sport.  SportsEdTV will also explore the connection of the men’s team’s success to current successes among the youth, women’s team, and beach players on the global stage.

SportsEdTV will distribute the instruction library exclusively on SportsEdTV’s web and social channels, and the documentary on global sports and entertainment television, OTT networks, cable, and on-demand platforms.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MEN’S LACROSSE FACEOFF STAR TD IERLAN SIGNS WITH GAIT

Altamont, N.Y. (December 16, 2021) – Gait Lacrosse is excited to announce a multi-year partnership with Premier Lacrosse League and National Lacrosse League’s faceoff star TD Ierlan. Ierlan will represent the brand using the latest Gait Lacrosse equipment.

The agreement will provide Ierlan with Gait Lacrosse hard goods in the current NLL season as well as the opportunity to work with the Gait Product Development team on upcoming men’s product launches. Ierlan holds every NCAA season and career faceoff and ground balls record. He is also a volunteer assistant men’s lacrosse coach at Syracuse University.

“I am so excited to be teaming up with Gait Lacrosse,” said Ierlan. “The impact both Paul and Gary have made from how the game is played to what equipment players are using today is immeasurable. I cannot wait to work with them on a faceoff specific line and get on the field using the latest Gait equipment.”

Gait Lacrosse, a collaboration between lacrosse legends and brothers, Gary and Paul Gait, launched in the fall of 2019 with only women’s lacrosse gear and a small assortment of men’s equipment. The brand is set to release a full men’s line in early 2022.

“We’re thrilled to have TD join the Gait team,” said Gait Lacrosse owner Paul Gait. “His dominance at the faceoff position speaks for itself and we’re excited that he’ll be able to share his expertise with our product development team as well as showing what our equipment can do on the field.”

Ierlan began his college career at Albany, where he was a two-time All-American setting NCAA Division I single-season records in faceoff percentage (.791), faceoff wins (359) and ground balls (254). He then spent two seasons at Yale and finished his college career at Denver with the Ivy League electing to forgo the 2021 season due to COVID-19.

His career concluded with winning .751 percent of faceoffs over five years (1,245-1,657) and winning 867 ground balls. All of those career marks are NCAA records and his career faceoff win percentage is nearly four percent higher than the previous record holder.

Ierlan was selected fourth overall by the Redwoods in the Premier Lacrosse League entry draft and drafted to the Toronto Rock in the National Lacrosse League. He finished his rookie season second in the PLL with a .650 faceoff win percentage. He was a finalist for the league’s Paul Cantabene Faceoff Athlete of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards.

Ierlan joins a list of elite womens and mens lacrosse athletes as well as fifteen college lacrosse programs in the Gait Family.

Florida company, Halo LAX partners with World Lacrosse to provide in-depth training on the emerging 6V6 lacrosse model

(Clearwater, FL) May 6, 2021 – On May 15, 2021, World Lacrosse in partnership with Halo LAX and Central Florida’s Polk County Sports Marketing will host a free clinic for coaches and club directors to learn best practices and coaching techniques for the 6v6 discipline, developed by World Lacrosse and currently being implemented by Halo LAX. The clinic will be hosted at Northeast Regional Park – located in Polk County, Florida – in conjunction with the Halo LAX 6onLAX GO FOR THE GOLDtournament May 15-16.

Halo LAX, founded by Sports Facilities Companies (SFC), launched 6onLAX in 2020 and was soon sanctioned by US Lacrosse. As promoted by World Lacrosse, 6v6 competition reduces the number of players needed to form a team and compete. Games are fast-paced and exciting, requiring a blend of individual skills and teamwork.

Halo LAX’s 6onLAX brings an innovative approach to lacrosse games and competition with smaller fields and smaller teams that allow players to develop better skill development and optimum ball-handling. Programming for the 6onLAX event in Davenport, Florida on Saturday will be led by graduates of World Lacrosse’s Coach Development Academy and will feature a 45-minute classroom session followed by a 1-hour field session.

“World Lacrosse supports Halo LAX’s efforts to teach coaches about the 6v6 game and ultimately give them the tools to share with their athletes. This clinic combined with the 6onLAX tournament provides a unique opportunity for graduates of the World Lacrosse Coach Development Academy to work directly with coaches who are new to the 6v6 discipline,” said World Lacrosse Director of Sports Development, TJ Buchanan.

Director of Polk County Tourism & Sports Marketing, Mark Jackson, shared his anticipation for the event: “Polk County has a deep tradition of lacrosse, including hosting the 2019 Pan American Lacrosse Association Women’s Lacrosse Wold Qualifiers where the 6’s format was trialed. We’re looking forward to hosting World Lacrosse and Halo LAX for this event to grow interest for this format and the participation in the sport.”

Coaches and Club Directors interested in participating in the event must pre-register as space is limited. For more information and to register, visit https://link.edgepilot.com/s/4783165e/vLfBSXE7ykC21MJQpmL8QQ?u=http://www.halolax.com/.

Aural Analytics, Inc. and HitCheck, Inc. Partner on Integration of Speech Analytics into HitCheck’s Widely Used Concussion Assessment Applications

The partnership will enable real-time speech-based measures of cognitive and motor function known to track with concussion and traumatic brain injury

HitCheck’s concussion assessment application is used by hundreds of thousands of youth and high-school sports athletes, the US Military and others

SAN FRANCISCO and SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. – April 29, 2021 – Aural Analytics, Inc., and HitCheck Inc. announced today they have entered into a strategic partnership to embed Aural Analytics’ speech biomarkers platform into HitCheck’s cognitive assessment application. The partnership will enable speech collection and analysis inside HitCheck’s interactive, game-like assessment, which tracks individuals’ unique performance over time and screens for sudden changes after a potential brain injury has occurred. The addition of Aural Analytics’ speech biomarkers, built from decades of research illustrating speech and language changes may occur from concussion or brain injury, enriches the outcomes assessments that coaches, athletes, soldiers and caretakers rely on to assess performance and return to play.

The relationship between brain injury and changes in speech and language has been well published. Human speech relies on the coordination of complex neural activity and activation of respiratory, phonatory, and articulatory muscles. A concussion or brain injury can cause damage to the underlying system, which becomes apparent in the produced speech. The addition of clinically-validated speech and language biomarkers into the robust HitCheck suite of assessments brings a more complete picture of cognitive and speech-motor function to HitCheck’s users.

“We are excited to continue our work to better prepare and protect athletes and those who serve our country by creating meaningful partnerships with leading companies,” said Mike Piha, CEO at HitCheck Inc. “We strive every day to bring better and clearer assessments of cognition to our users. Our partnership with Aural Analytics allows athletes, soldiers, and active individuals to have metrics at their fingertips when it comes to brain health.”

“Concussion and brain injury have been linked to longer-term cognitive diseases such as dementia, Alzheimer’s and CTE. There is strong evidence that recurring or repeat brain injuries increase the risk of these diseases significantly.” Said Daniel J. Jones, CEO and co-founder of Aural Analytics. “Our speech-based measures of cognition and motor function provide rich information about the health of the athlete or soldier and their ability to return to the field safely. Our partnership with HitCheck is an important step toward introducing better assessment and tracking of cognition and motor function for athletes and soldiers. We are thrilled to work alongside HitCheck on this journey.”

Drawing on decades of medical research, HitCheck takes standardized cognitive testing methods and translates them into short, simple mobile assessment exercises users can take immediately whenever and wherever an injury is suspected. It is available for download in the Apple App store as well as Google Play for free.

Regional Sports Destination Expands Opportunities For Local Athletes

(Clearwater, FL) May 3, 2021– An innovative concept for a youth and amateur sports complex is in the final planning stages, according to the Sports Facilities Companies (SFC). The project, called Bo Jackson’s Turf and Ice, will serve Houston and surrounding markets for sports training, elite development, team building, leagues, camps, and clinics in a range of sports from baseball, softball, lacrosse to hockey. Driven by a mission of access and inclusion to change youth athlete’s lives, the 180,000+ square-foot facility will be a local and regional destination for athletes of all ages and skill levels focused on player development.

This innovative facility concept will tap into the pre-COVID boom in the youth and amateur sports industry – which was predicted in 2019 to reach $29 billion in the next 5 years by Wintergreen Research, Inc. While the ‘boom’ in the industry slowed by the worldwide pandemic of COVID-19 in 2020, the industry is quickly recovering as facility and event operators have adapted to new safety precautions and protocols. More than 25,000 participants are forecasted to take part in ice programs alone in the first year of Bo Jackson’s Turf and Ice operation according to SFC’s market analysis.

In the spirit of the mission and vision of the project, Bo Jackson is “excited to help bring a facility to Houston and the surrounding communities that will serve not only the elite athletes competing in multiple sports, but youth with fewer opportunities in underserved areas. I strive to partner with local communities and businesses to help change the outcome of the youth athlete, and this project will do just that for Houston.”

True to its name, the facility will feature state-of-the-art spaces for both turf and ice including an air-supported dome structure which allows for large column-less clear-span spaces, ideal for indoor turf sports, recreation, and training. Among other amenities, the sports complex will contain:

“It’s been clear from day-one that the mission and the impact to children’s lives is a primary driver for the development of this project,” said Dan Morton, SFC Development Advisor and representative for the project. “Bo Jackson’s Turf and Ice will be a great asset to Houston and provide opportunities for thousands of kids to continue to excel in sport or try new sports and experience all the benefits sport and physical activity has to offer. We are building a model that creates access for a wide range of visitor capabilities both physically and financially.”

Changing a youth athlete’s outcome through sport and elite player development is a passion for Bo Jackson.
