World Lacrosse to Host Free 6V6 Coaches Clinic in Florida

Florida company, Halo LAX partners with World Lacrosse to provide in-depth training on the emerging 6V6 lacrosse model

(Clearwater, FL) May 6, 2021 – On May 15, 2021, World Lacrosse in partnership with Halo LAX and Central Florida’s Polk County Sports Marketing will host a free clinic for coaches and club directors to learn best practices and coaching techniques for the 6v6 discipline, developed by World Lacrosse and currently being implemented by Halo LAX. The clinic will be hosted at Northeast Regional Park – located in Polk County, Florida – in conjunction with the Halo LAX 6onLAX GO FOR THE GOLDtournament May 15-16.

Halo LAX, founded by Sports Facilities Companies (SFC), launched 6onLAX in 2020 and was soon sanctioned by US Lacrosse. As promoted by World Lacrosse, 6v6 competition reduces the number of players needed to form a team and compete. Games are fast-paced and exciting, requiring a blend of individual skills and teamwork.

Halo LAX’s 6onLAX brings an innovative approach to lacrosse games and competition with smaller fields and smaller teams that allow players to develop better skill development and optimum ball-handling. Programming for the 6onLAX event in Davenport, Florida on Saturday will be led by graduates of World Lacrosse’s Coach Development Academy and will feature a 45-minute classroom session followed by a 1-hour field session.

“World Lacrosse supports Halo LAX’s efforts to teach coaches about the 6v6 game and ultimately give them the tools to share with their athletes. This clinic combined with the 6onLAX tournament provides a unique opportunity for graduates of the World Lacrosse Coach Development Academy to work directly with coaches who are new to the 6v6 discipline,” said World Lacrosse Director of Sports Development, TJ Buchanan.

Director of Polk County Tourism & Sports Marketing, Mark Jackson, shared his anticipation for the event: “Polk County has a deep tradition of lacrosse, including hosting the 2019 Pan American Lacrosse Association Women’s Lacrosse Wold Qualifiers where the 6’s format was trialed. We’re looking forward to hosting World Lacrosse and Halo LAX for this event to grow interest for this format and the participation in the sport.”

Coaches and Club Directors interested in participating in the event must pre-register as space is limited. For more information and to register, visit https://link.edgepilot.com/s/4783165e/vLfBSXE7ykC21MJQpmL8QQ?u=http://www.halolax.com/.
